LA2028 Branch Library
This project consists of creating a Library on Vermont Ave, LA, which can adapt a different function during the Olympics in 2028. As an expat, this project is significant because the Olympics is an opportunity for people from all over the world to come together. In this project, I wanted to create a sense of community within the site. I started by creating a singular structural bay which I then replicated to create enough space for the program in an organized way to fit the site.
This diagram program organization according to the existing site, with the more quiet spaces such as lounges and offices are closer to the residential areas, and event space is closer to the street, for a more inviting and noise tolerance. The buildings height go from 20 ft to 10 ft in increments of 2 feet and focus on shifting from a traditional home shape to a more commercial building typology. The spaces in between the modular squares are meant to highlight the sense of community and peace even through the chaos of such large event.
The single module focused on the facades on which I decided to use triangular panels to maintain the main shape of the previous project. The colors are taken from the logo of the Olympics to create a coherence of the program.
